About us

Meet your Motoring Mentor - FUN ON WHEELS UK Driving Instructor Bury St Edmunds Suffolk

Terry Bassingthwaighte is not just a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). He is Vice Chairman of the National Trailer and Towing Association (NTTA).

Governing Committee member of the Approved Driving Instructors National Joint Council (ADINJC).

He has spent over 40 years in the driving seat and over 15 years coaching new and more experienced drivers in and around the Bury St Edmunds area of Suffolk.

Terry is passionate about sharing his solid knowledge, extensive array of driving skills and experience with the next generation of drivers.

With an impressive track record of delivering driver coaching that achieves real results, he has an approach that is relaxed and very much focused on the needs of each individual student driver.

His philosophy is simple – with the right coaching, learning to be drive cannot only be fun, but can set you up with the skills and confidence to enjoy the drive into the future.

An all-round understanding of what motoring really means

Terry really understands all the nuts and bolts about driving. On leaving school at 16, he qualified first as a mechanic, before moving into sales and later becoming a fully qualified HGV driver.

After two decades of driving around Europe and the UK, he founded Fun on Wheels UK in 2005.

Having started the company originally to offer Suffolk off-road quad-bike and buggy safaris, he soon found himself taking up the invitation of the European All-terrain Vehicle Safety Institute (EASI) to become an instructor.

It was to be his light-bulb moment – Terry discovered his passion for teaching.

A Bury St Edmunds driving instructor with plenty of skills in tow

As well as a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) who coaches new learners and drivers with a need to refresh their skills, FUN ON WHEELS UK founder Terry Bassingthwaighte is a highly experienced class B + E trailer towing tutor.

He is an active council member of the National Trailer and Towing Association and is vice chairman.

He is also actively involved in setting up the new recommended B+E training accreditation which is being recommended by the DVSA.

As a driver of both heavy and light goods vehicles for many years, he very much enjoys sharing his first-class hands-on knowledge and experience of LGV Class 1 vehicle and trailer-towing techniques.

For many companies across East Anglia, plus firms and individuals in Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, FUN ON WHEELS UK has become the go-to driving instructor for securing trailer-driving qualifications.

Do you need a B + E trailer-towing certificate to further your career as a driver within your business?
